THE PROPERTY:
There are places marked by history and others that profoundly influence it. To reach Château "Gascogne", located in the Gers south of the Dordogne region, some choose to travel by road, while adventuresome guests arrive via a cross-country horse trail. As you approach, the white stone façade camouflaged with vines is slowly revealed until you behold an edifice that has benevolently ruled over Gascony for eight centuries. To stay at the Château in Gascony is to treat oneself to the luxury of a hidden paradise with remarkable character.

THE OWNER:
“While at our home, you feel as though it were your own”. The motto of this exceptional property is surprising in light of it’s historic stature and yet… for years the owners’ friends told them the château was ideally suited to the concept of maison d’hôtes. Taking into consideration its splendor and delightful ambiance, they agreed to open their home to visitors who would appreciate such an exceptional destination. Happily settling into the venerable old château, visitors admiring the family portraits and are almost surprised not to be included. To permit guests to fully appreciate their home, the owners will rent out the entire property, for a truly aristocratic experience.

DINING AND ACTIVITIES:
The enjoyment starts with breakfast, thanks to the savoir-faire of Françoise - guardian angel of the excellent maison d’hôtes. Fruits from the orchard and kitchen garden are transformed into delicious fresh juices and home made jams. These fruity treats are served in the garden or dining room accompanied by creamy yogurt, local honey, cannelés and warm breakfast pastries. Depending on the season, a variety of on site workshops are offered, from table arts (art de la table), kitchen gardening, and land art, to initiation into the brotherhood of musketeers. You will be spoiled for choice with diversions including petanque, cycling, ping-pong, swimming, and sauna, or a work out in the fitness room. La Belle Vie de Château is deserving of its name.

REGION AND DISCOVERIES:
Its privileged location close to the ocean, Pyrenees Mountains and leading French vineyards make château "Gascogne" an ideal point of departure. Bordeaux and la ville rose are a short distance away, and will delight lovers of gastronomy, history and nature. Along the route, guests can explore the fortified village of Montréal and the Trésor d’Eauze archeological museum. The warm climate encourages a trip to the coast across the Landes pine forests, where you’ll relish the salty Atlantic air while savoring fine caviar and fresh oysters.
