THE PROPERTY:
Surrounded by fields of lavender and the song of crickets, a charming maison bourgeoise (guesthouse) is proud to proclaim its affiliation with one of the 'plus beaux villages de France' (the Most Beautiful Villages in France). After crossing the cobblestone lane and pushing open the robust wooden door, it's the moment for Côté Lourmarin to work its charm. Wood, natural pigments, glass and terra cotta are among the noble elements that define its authentic style. Any attempt to resist the luxury and comfort of the "Lavender" guestroom or "Côté Lourmarin Suite" fails once you've encountered this exclusive destination.
THE OWNERS:
Concierge service and all-inclusive - the level of service rivals the standard of a luxury hotel. Yet if its hosts are no stranger to prestige hospitality, the spirit of their residence remains artisinal. The determination of two passionate and committed Normans guided Christine and Pascal along the path to this lovely townhouse. While some follow trends, Christine decorates to suit her personal fancy. For one bathroom she found a stone sink veined like olive wood, and recuperated 18th century walnut doors for the salon. Beyond its distinct aura of privacy, the mistress of the house and her smiling husband know how to be discrete while gracing your stay with refined attentiveness. Whether romantic weekend or country getaway, even if the motivation for your visit is ephemeral, the memory of Côté Lourmarin will linger forever.
DINING AND ACTIVITIES:
An array of petits pains, regional fruit jams, honey and little homemade financiers almond cakes are served with a generous selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Unless you'd prefer local produce appreciated by gourmets, including fresh goat cheese, ham, eggs, Gruyere and creamy yoghurt. Still invigorated from a walk in the countryside or cultural forays around Lourmarin, guests unwind in the salon. A place of exchange between friends or among family, it welcomes you in comfortable bergère armchairs or on a velvet sofa facing the impressive fireplace.
REGION AND DISCOVERIES:
Red, blue yellow and green – Provence is a painter's palette. With its lush vegetation, clear sky, complicit sunshine and fragrant cuisine, your stay in the Luberon will leave a potent sensory impression. On one of your sorties beyond the house, the Château of Lourmarin will reveal the secret of its antique furnishings. In summer, it hosts sculptors, musicians, painters and noted artists. A few kilometers beyond, the l'île sur Sorgues antiques village, Avignon theatre festival, and Roque d'Antheron music festival, are but a prelude to the range of activities available to visitors.
